Dev Log 04.25.2026: New Rig, Among Other Things
Random Thoughts from a Restless Mind

I missed the daily logs all week, so this one's a recap.
The Technical: Steady ticket flow on the emergency project — down to half time for the moment, so not as busy as the previous 6 weeks or so. Outside of that, I've been actively pursuing Claude code certifications, and Phase 3 of the desktop/workstation migration is underway: getting all the dev environments moved over to the new rig and credentials properly managed through Proton Pass.
The Atmosphere: Working through a BoJack Horseman reaction playlist this week, which spiraled into a couple of fun rabbit holes — Max Greenfield's voice acting range, and the legal philosophy underpinning the show's climax. Also got some Marvel Rivals time in to stress test the new hardware.
The Coworker: Hubert has been vibing through the chaos, mostly unbothered by the cardboard boxes and rearranged furniture. He's been spending more time out on the deck, soaking up the sunlight. He's got a grooming appointment tomorrow, which he does not yet know about.
The Rant: A mixed bag of a week, personally. Mid-week migraine ate a full day, which eventually led to a much-needed recovery Friday. Some weeks just go like that. Also got a coordinated last-minute request from family today to help with something tomorrow. I've asked them over and over to give me notice on things, but I'm past the point of trying to make improve anything with them.
The Smiles: The new rig is alive! 9700X CPU, 5070 GPU, fresh build, fully operational. While I was at it, I finalized a 4-monitor layout — three primary displays on DisplayPort plus a wall-mounted Seiki over HDMI for ambient/secondary use. Migrated from Streamlabs OBS to OBS Studio (a "pro" jump for resource management), configured five core streaming scenes, and finally tracked down an audio/mic echo issue. It's the cleanest, most capable workstation I've ever had. Hard not to smile every time I sit down at it.
