Dev Log 04.29.2026: QA Deep-Dives, Strixhaven, and a Wheel I'm Proud Of

The Technical: Spent most of the day investigating a "failed" QA ticket from yesterday — the kind of bug where the fix works perfectly in one staging environment and not at all in the other, which means the answer is hiding somewhere in the discrepancy between data and code. A lot of it was just methodically ruling things out until the picture got clearer. Also got further confirmation that the WSL/VS Code transition is paying off — everything is stable and noticeably faster than the old native Windows setup. In the evening, I streamed and got into some real bot development: pushed several new features for the dashboard and optimized some back-end API responses while I was in there.

The Atmosphere: More Veronica Mars Season 2. The Felix mystery's pacing is fine, but I have to say — for someone whose entire identity is "competent investigator," the protagonist has truly catastrophic OPSEC. Just doing investigations out loud, in semi-public, with zero situational awareness. It's a lot. Still watching though.

The Coworker: Hubert held it down today. No notes.

The Smiles: The morning was rough — woke up with a migraine, fought it back with Excedrin, water, and a heating-pad-assisted couch office until I felt human again. But the evening turned the day around completely. I opened a full booster box of Secrets of Strixhaven on stream and turned it into a vibe-coding session for working on the bot. Edibles and Mexican Coke are an underrated combination, just for the record. Didn't pull any of the chase cards, but a handful of really solid ones I'm genuinely excited about. And the highlight of the night — I built what I sincerely think is the best Wheel of Fortune feature I've made, UX-wise. Everything just clicked. Days like this don't redeem rough mornings exactly, but they do remind you that the rest of the day is still up for grabs.
