🤓 The Technical: Finally heard back from QA, so the day job had a fresh batch of work waiting on me....

🤓 The Technical: Took a sick day. The honest version is it was a mental health day, and as far as I'm concerned that counts - mental health day is a sick day, full stop. So the day job got none of me today, and that's fine. Later on, once I'd eaten and reset a little, I did get some coding done before hitting the wall where the only thing left was the dull administrative config-and-signup stuff that I just didn't have it in me to start. That can wait. The more fun progress was on the Magic side: I've got two Commander decks officially squared away at their brackets now, and I spent some time trying to lock down the Frodo deck as a second bracket-three build. Still tuning, but it's getting there.
😎 The Atmosphere: Most of the afternoon's real labor went into picking a movie, which sounds like a joke but genuinely took some doing. I was hunting for a very specific vibe - brutal but not gory, the kind of melancholic-action thing where the guy at the center has lost something and is running on grief and momentum. Went down a whole list, half of which turned out not to be on my server, so those are downloading now for another day. Ended up eating to an episode of BoJack instead, which is its own kind of comfort food. Still casting around for the next show after wrapping New Girl - nothing's grabbed me yet. Food was McAlister's, twice, because I leaned all the way into the free day and I refuse to feel bad about it.
🐶 The Coworker: Hubert held down the other end of the sectional for basically the entire day. No notes, no demands, just a quiet presence a couple feet away. On a day like today that's worth more than it sounds.
😡 The Rant: You cannot change a subscription's billing date. It's 2026 and the official answer to "I'd like this to bill on the 24th instead of the 3rd" is: cancel, and resubscribe on the day you want. Which means either eating an overlap window where you've paid twice, or going without the service for however many days it takes to line up. There's no button. There's no field. For a recurring charge that exists entirely as a row in a database, the fact that the date is apparently load-bearing and immovable is baffling.
🙂🙂🙂 The Smiles: I took the day I needed and didn't talk myself out of it. I fed myself, twice, even when I didn't feel like doing much of anything. Hubert was right there the whole time. And even running on empty, I still found a little room to tinker with the Frodo deck. Not a triumphant day - but I did the small things right, and some days that's the whole win.
